Meet Laura Milmed, M.S., CCC-SLP, TSSLD
Hello and welcome! I’m Laura—an ASHA-certified Speech-Language Pathologist, educator, and holder of a TSSLD (Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities) credential. I believe that every student deserves the tools to communicate confidently and thrive academically. Committed to meeting learners exactly where they are, my mission is to create safe, supportive spaces where school-aged children can build the language skills they need to succeed in all of their environments.
Clinical Expertise & Teaching Journey
I combine deep clinical expertise in dyslexia, language-based learning disabilities, and ADHD with a passion for the classroom. My professional journey includes serving as a Learning Specialist, Academic Support Coordinator, and classroom teacher at several elite NYC private schools.
This dual background uniquely positions me to bridge the gap between clinical therapy and the classroom—allowing me to design inclusive, empowering curricula while partnering closely with teachers and families. Whether adapting a middle school lesson plan or working one-on-one with a student, I blend rigorous, evidence-based strategies with a compassionate, student-centered approach.
Specialized Methodologies
To effectively support diverse learning profiles, I bring formal training in highly effective, research-backed interventions:
Preventing Academic Failure (PAF): An Orton-Gillingham-based reading intervention program that integrates reading, writing, and spelling.
Fundations — Wilson Language Training: A systematic program focusing on phonological/phonemic awareness, phonics, and spelling.
The Hochman Method (Basic Writing Skills): An explicit, structured approach to developing foundational writing skills.
